SAFARIS EXTENSIONS

Lamu and the Indian Ocean Safari Extension

A town, an island, and an archipelago all in one, Lamu lies on the Indian Ocean, 150 miles north of Mombasa. One of the oldest towns on the coast, Lamu boasts as its primary attractions nearly deserted white sandy beaches, warm waters ideal for snorkeling and diving, and street markets packed with traditional crafts.

Itinerary

Days 1 and 2
Lamu

Your flight to Lamu departs from Wilson Airport and lands on nearby Manda Island, from which you transfer by traditional dhow directly to the Kipungani Explorer Lodge. For two days, you relax in this unique tropical setting. Take a dawn swim at one of the world's most beautiful beaches, plunge into crystalline waters to scuba dive or snorkel, explore nearby Matandoni's shipyards, or shop in Lamu. Your lodge's informal atmosphere, excellent cuisine, and friendly staff contribute to a profound sense of wellbeing.

Day 3
Nairobi
After a final morning at leisure, you return to Nairobi by air, arriving late in the afternoon. You may squeeze in some final shopping at Utamaduni Craft Centre before your farewell dinner at a city hotel; then, it's time to transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to catch your departing international flight.
